Medtronic Earnings Up Sharply

Fourth quarter earnings for Medtronic Inc. (MDT) leaped to 62 cents per share from 16 cents per share in the year ago period prompting the company to lift its fiscal 2007 outlook. Shares of the medical device maker rose $2.22 to close at $50.17.
