MasterCard's Earnings Surge

First quarter earnings for MasterCard Inc. (MA) rose to $1.57 per share from 94 cents per share in the year ago period, beating expectations by a wide margin. Shares of the world's second largest credit card network leaped $11.50 to close at $126.35.
