Piper Jaffray's Earnings Beat Estimates

Third quarter earnings for Piper Jaffray Companies (PJC) dropped to 50 cents per share from 57 cents per share a year earlier but the results beat expectations by 5 cents. The stock price leaped $7.45 to close at $69.62.
