Level 3 To Buy Broadwing

Level 3 Communications Inc. (LVLT) will pay approximately $1.4 billion in cash and stock to purchase competitor Broadwing Corp. (BWNG). Shares of Broadwing leaped $2.62 to close at $15.90 while Level 3 stock climbed 70 cents to close at $6.02.
