Caterpillar Disappoints

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) reported third quarter earnings of $1.40 per share compared with $1.14 per share a year earlier. The results fell 3 cents short of expectations prompting the heavy equipment maker to cut its full year guidance. The stock price tumbled $4.09 to close at $73.57.
