Coal Companies Surge

Shares of rival coal companies surged after Massey Energy Co.'s (MEE) earnings plunged. Arch Coal Inc. (ACI) stock surged $3.24 to close at $37.94 while the stock price of Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU) soared $3.90 to close at $49.90. Shares of Massey rose $1.67 to close at $26.72.
