Smurfit-Stone Widens Losses

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (SSCC) blamed higher expenses for first quarter losses that widened to 25 cents per share from 7 cents per share in the year ago period. Shares of the paperboard and packaging materials manufacturer plunged $1.43 to close at $13.20.
