JPMorgan May Buy Bank of New York Branches

A news report that JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) may purchase The Bank of New York Company Inc.'s (BK) 300 branches for approximately $4 billion lifted shares of one of the nation's oldest banks $1.50 to close at $35.92. JPMorgan stock eased 15 cents to close at $41.53.
